Coil was a potential historical website based on the idea of ancestry that was presented through a created logo to illustrations and finally through a 3D rendered logo animation.
The illustrations and logo are based on handmade folk art and the "O" is based on the designs of coil pots which play a key aspect for the project. This is because pottery and ceramics can play a key role in many different culutures and those techniques can often be passed on to new generations for a lifetime.
Illustration based on symmetrical folk art that I often seen while living in a farming community. The illustration takes from the importance of corn and wheat in a traditional farming community.
Illustration based the idea of family and unity through the imagery often brought by old photography of marriage ceremonies. There is no distinct face in the illustration to give it a more gost like forgotten history feel to the overall peice. This is because The overall message of the fictionalized ancestry is to uncover stories of past experiences that often get forgotten in modern times.
This Illustration showcases the immigration of a family's move from Poland to Ohio and then finally to Wisconsin.
This illustration is based on imagery often showcased in ideas of movement and immigration from one area to another.
